Medical Billing & Medical Coding
What does a health claims specialist do? They work in a variety of health care settings: hospitals, long term care facilities, doctor’s offices, and dentist’s offices completing billing, coding of patient treatments for insurance purposes, managing patient records, and computer entry. The Health Claims Specialist may do all these jobs in a small medical practice or specialize in one medical specialty. They are often seen as the physician’s key to receiving reimbursement.

Curriculum for Second Year- Advanced Health Claims Specialist
Semester I:
Prerequisite:First Year - Introduction to Health Claims Specialist
1. International Classification of Diseases- ICD-9CM
2. Pharmacology
Semester II:
Prerequisite: Semester I
1. Current Procedural Terminology CPT-4
2. Health Claims Specialist Externship 120 hours- optional
Semester III:
Prerequisite: Semester I & II
1. CPC Review Course
2. CPC Exam
