FULL TIME DAY PROGRAMS

  • For program specific admissions information, please see individual program.
  • Most classes run September to June, except Practical Nursing (see nursing)
  • 8:00 a.m. to 2: 10* p.m.  Monday thru Friday.
  • *Clinical externships follow regular day office hours of clinical site.

Admissions Requirements

  • Official High School Transcript or GED (scores needed)
  • Interview with Program Director
  • Entrance Exam (Practical Nurse Program)
  • Health exam, current immunizations
  • Current CPR certification (medical programs)
  • C.O.R.I. (Criminal Offender Record Information) is required for Practical Nurse, Dental Assisting, Phlebotomy, Massage Therapy, Medical Assisting, Phlebotomy and Massage Therapy programs

Transfer Credits

Some applicants may transfer college credits in Psychology, English, Human Growth & Development or Anatomy & Physiology if you have received a “C” or better within the past five (5) years from an accredited college. An official college transcript detailing any and all courses taken must be submitted for program director to review to determine previous credit or transfer approval.

Student Fee Refund Policy

Assuming all fees have been paid and the student has properly withdrawn, refunds shall be made from the program fee balance after all non-refundable amounts have been deducted, according to the following schedule:

 Withdrawal prior to the end of the first five (5) days of classes:                 5% refunded

 Withdrawal prior to the end of the tenth (l0th) day of classes:                  50% refunded

 Withdrawal after ten (10) days of classes and prior to October l:             25% refunded

 No refund shall be made for any student who withdraws for any reason on or after October 1.  No refund shall be made from grant or scholarship credits.

 A student who is dismissed from the program for academic or disciplinary reasons is not entitled to a refund of any fees.

Antidiscrimination Laws

Chapter 282 of the Acts of 1993, General Laws Chapter 76, Section 5

No person shall be excluded from or discriminated against in admission to a public school in any town, or in obtaining the advantages, privileges, and courses of study of such public school on account of race, color, sex, religion, national origin or sexual orientation.


Title IX the Education Amendments of 1972 prohibits sex discrimination in federally assisted program. “No person in the United States shall, on the basis of sex be excluded from participation in, be denied the benefits of, or be subjected to discrimination under any educational activities or employment under any educational program or activity receiving federal financial assistance”.

Sexual Harassment Policy

 Introduction

The following information is a summary of the definition of sexual harassment and the procedures for filing informal and formal complaints.  The complete text of the sexual harassment policy and procedures is available in the office of the Director of the Technical Institute.

Sexual harassment consists of unwelcome verbal, non-verbal, and/or physical behavior of a sexual nature, which has the effect of interfering with student or employment status or creating an intimidating, hostile, or offensive environment.  Sexual harassment incidents can involve a male harasser and a female victim, a female harasser and a male victim, and also same sex harassment.

Unwelcome sexual advances, requests for sexual favors, and other verbal or physical conduct of a sexual nature constitute sexual harassment when:

  1.  Submission to such conduct is made either explicitly or implicitly a term or condition of an individual’s employment or education;

  2.  Submission to or rejection of such conduct by an individual is used as a basis for academic or employment decisions affecting that individual;

  3.  Such conduct has the purpose or effect of substantially interfering with an individual’s academic or professional performance or creating an intimidating, hostile, or offensive employment, educational, or living environment.  Examples of sexual harassment may include but are not limited to

    • verbal abuse
    • subtle pressure for sexual activity.
    • sexual remarks about an individual’s or group’s body or sexual activities.
    •  unnecessary touching, patting, or pinching.
    • demands for sexual favors accompanied by implied or overt threats or offers concerning one’s job, grades, letter of recommendation, etc.
    •  physical sexual assault.

Academic Policies and General Conduct

Conduct

The Technical Institute seeks to provide an environment where the freedom to learn and interact can be nurtured and encouraged.  All students must conduct themselves as individuals seriously interested in obtaining the best possible education. The Technical Institute reserves the right to dismiss a student for disciplinary as well as academic reasons. Any of, but not limited to, the following inappropriate behaviors could result in disciplinary action and may lead to probation, suspension or dismissal:

  • Interfering with another student’s performance
  • Creating an intimidating, hostile, or offensive educational environment
  • Theft
  • Vandalism
  • Plagiarism
  • Cheating, lying
  • Violation of Civil Rights Law
  • Sexual Harassment
  • Fighting
  • Hazing
  • Destruction of any property
  • Possession of, use of, or under the influence of controlled substance
  • or alcohol at school or school related field trips

Academic Performance

Successful classroom performance at the Southeastern Technical Institute is reflected in the completion of assigned work, attendance at scheduled classes, labs, and externships and by classroom behavior which allows class members to learn in an unrestricted manner.  Faculty members may refer to the Technical Institute Director any student who is failing either academically or clinically.  The Southeastern Technical Institute reserves the right to dismiss any student who fails to meet the academic or clinical performance standards as determined by the faculty member's) or the administration.

Academic Warning

A student not meeting minimum academic or clinical standards will have a conference with the instructor and will be issued a written warning and may be placed on probation. The student will sign the written warning to acknowledge that he/she has received and read it.  A copy of this warning will be given to the student and another maintained in the student’s file. 

 If the written warning initiates the probationary period, a remedial plan and a time period will be established for the student to demonstrate his/her ability to meet the program’s standards. At the end of the probation period, a decision will be made to discontinue or continue probation or to dismiss the student.

Dress Code

 Students are required to follow the dress code as outlined by individual program guidelines.

 In addition, Southeastern Regional School District has a “no hat” policy.

Identification Badges

Technical Institute I.D. badges must be worn and visible each day. If you have lost or misplaced your identification badge please report immediately to the Technical Institute Office.  A replacement fee may be charged. 

No School School Notice

1.     In case of severe weather warranting the closing of school  the following radio and TV stations will broadcast the “no school” notice at intervals between 6:30 and 8:00 a.m.

                   WCAV  -    97.7 FM       WBET   -   1460 AM

TV:         CHANNEL 4        CHANNEL 5     CHANNEL 7        

2.     Listen for an announcement specifically for the Southeastern Regional Vocational Technical School.

3.     When day school sessions are canceled, all afternoon and evening sessions will automatically be canceled.
 

Delayed School Notice

The “delayed school” notice will be for one hour or two hours.  If a one-hour delayed school opening is announced, students will begin classes at 9:00 a.m.  If a two-hour delayed school opening is announced, students will begin classes at 10:00 a.m.

Voter Registration Form

As part of the Higher Education Amendment, this institution must provide you with the opportunity to register to vote. Accordingly, please call Rhonda frank at 508 230-1275 to have a form mailed to you.  You will also receive a form as part of the packet of information received when you are interviewed for a program.  Please note that you may choose between a Massachusetts form and a Federal form. The Massachusetts form can only be used to register to vote in Massachusetts. The Federal form may be used to register in most other states.

REMEMBER YOU WILL NOT BE REGISTERED TO VOTE UNTIL YOU RETURN THE COMPLETED VOTER REGISTRATION FORM TO YOUR LOCAL CITY OR TOWN HALL. The local clerk will thereafter provide you with acknowledgment of your voter registration; if you do not receive an acknowledgment of your voter registration within a reasonable time, please check with your local clerk for more information.

CRIME ACT REPORT

The following report is mandated by Title II, the Crime Awareness and Campus Security Act of 1990.

MISSION STATEMENT The mission of Southeastern Regional Technical Institute is to unite our learning community by teaching and developing the skills, knowledge, and attitudes necessary to lead lives of responsibility and achievement.

CRIME REPORTING All reports of hazards and incidents made to the Campus Police are recorded in the official log. An accident report is initiated and filed at the Department office. Investigations are conducted in accordance with policies and procedures outlined in the student hand-book.

ACCESS TO SCHOOL FACILITIES All exterior doors to buildings are locked during non-operational hours of the institution. Most interior doors to labs, shops, storage areas, and offices are secured as well.

AWARENESS PROGRAMS Student and employee orientations are utilized to alert people to safeguard themselves and their property.

A copy of this report will be made available to all employees-current and prospective-and students-current and prospective-consistent with the mandates of law.

SEXUAL ASSAULT The Institute is prepared to responsibility respond to all reports of sexual assault that are brought to its attention.. If you are a victim of sexual assault on campus you may wish to contact the Institute’s Director, Health Services, or Counseling Support Services. Staff will advise you regarding your options of taking legal action, seeking medical attention, and counseling services. Victims of sexual assault have the option of remaining anonymous.
