DENTAL ASSISTING PROGRAM

The Dental Assisting Program is an exciting nine month experience that introduces the student to all areas of the dental field. Dental Assistants perform a variety of patient care, office, and laboratory duties. He or She works chairside as dentists examine and treat patients. The Dental Assistant makes patients as comfortable as possible in the dental chair, prepares them for treatment, and obtains their dental records. 

The Dental Assistant sterilize and prepare instruments and materials for impressions and restorations, take dental x-rays, and process x-ray film as directed by a dentist. Laboratory duties include making casts of the teeth and mouth from impressions, clean and polish removable appliances, and make temporary crowns. 

The Dental Assistant with office duties schedule and confirm appointments, receive patients, keep treatment records, send bills, receive payments, and order dental supplies and materials.

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS:
Applicants must have a high school diploma or a G.E.D., pass an entrance exam and be interviewed by the program director. Applicants should also possess strong motor, coordination and visual acuity to be able to manage procedures and patient care in a dental facility. A physical examination, Hepatitis B immunizations, and immunizations required by the Massachusetts Department of Health. Students are required to maintain health insurance throughout their enrollment.
