DENTAL ASSISTING PROGRAMThe Dental Assisting Program is an exciting nine month experience that introduces the student to all areas of the dental field. Dental Assistants perform a variety of patient care, office, and laboratory duties. He or She works chairside as dentists examine and treat patients. The Dental Assistant makes patients as comfortable as possible in the dental chair, prepares them for treatment, and obtains their dental records. The Dental Assistant sterilize and prepare instruments and materials for impressions and restorations, take dental x-rays, and process x-ray film as directed by a dentist. Laboratory duties include making casts of the teeth and mouth from impressions, clean and polish removable appliances, and make temporary crowns. The Dental Assistant with office duties schedule and confirm appointments, receive patients, keep treatment records, send bills, receive payments, and order dental supplies and materials.
