PC SPECIALIST PROGRAM
The PC Specialist is an intensive program designed to provide students with the technical skills required to prepare for the A+ Certification exam and to prepare for positions in the Computer Support Field.
The course of study includes an overview of personal computer hardware components and several operating systems. Students will develop an understanding of how the hardware and the software interact in a working system. They will learn to troubleshoot, diagnose, and resolve issues with both the hardware and software.
The course is taught by an experienced instructor. Maximum class size is 10 students.

Introduction to Computer Hardware
Introduction to Operating Systems
PC Repair Fundamentals
Motherboards, Processors and Chipsets, and Memory
Power Supplies and electricity
Installing, maintaining, and supporting storage devices
Installing and Supporting I/O Devices
Multimedia Devices and Mass Storage
Installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting
Windows 9x/ME, 2000/XP
PCs on a Network
PCs on the Internet
PC and Network Security
Notebooks, Tablet PCs, and PDAs
.Installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting peripheral devices – Printers and Scanners
PROGRAM SCHEDULE
October -May
90 classroom/lab hours
Thursday evenings from 6:00 to 9:00
May include occasional Saturdays
